Responsibilities
Position Summary: Reporting to the CFO, this position is responsible for supporting the CFO in carrying out the financial and accounting responsibilities of the organization. This individual will also be responsible for handling the day-to-day accounting functions and fund management of the Foundation, and for analyzing, evaluating and recommending process improvements.
Responsibilities:

Oversees accounting functions for Foundation operating budget of $1 million

Prepares quarterly fund statements and agency statements

Assists CFO with preparation of quarterly financial statements

Executes all internal functions for annual audit, 990 and 5500 filings timely and accurately

Assists CFO in preparing annual budget

Supervises the Fund Accounting Clerk

Reviews all journal entries, cash deposits, vendor payables and grants payable prior to processing by the Fund Accounting Clerk

Conducts ad hoc reporting as needed

Directs all processing of all accounts payable transactions to ensure that all expenses and grants are paid, documented, and filed in a timely and accurate manner

Assists with due diligence for new grantees and maintenance of public charity status of existing grantees

Reviews monthly bank and investment account reconciliations and journals prepared by the Fund Accounting Clerk

Performs monthly and quarterly allocations of pooled investment entity

Performs monthly and quarterly Foundation fee administration

Performs annual spending policy calculation for review by CFP

Assists with designs and implementation of accounting and financial aspects of database systems

Serves as Foundation’s contact for financial inquiries from fund holder, donors, grantees, vendors and outside audit firms

Acts as backup to finance administration role

Maintains financial records in QuickBooks for a foundation and perform year end reconciliations

Oversees preparation of Charitable Trust tax returns and Form 1099’s for Charitable Gift Annuity beneficiaries and vendors
Qualifications:

Bachelors degree required, BS in Accounting preferred

Three to five years’ experience of general accounting experience in a non-profit environment, preferably fund accounting experience

Thorough knowledge of GAAP

Proficiency with personal computer including MS Office applications-Word, Excel & Outlook

Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Proven supervision and interpersonal relationship skills

Ability to plan, prioritize and work on various projects and meet deadline under time pressure constraints
